Raise a glass to the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival 2018 with a Limited Edition Release of SPEY from Speyside Distillery

SPEY Single Malt is sure to be the toast of this year’s Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival – with the

long awaited production of another exclusive, limited edition expression, bottled especially for the popular Annual Whisky Festival.

A SPEY single malt whisky from a Speyside Distillery 2011 single cask has been specially selected from our award winning artisan Speyside Distillery and has been bottled at cask strength, non-chill filtered and non-coloured, to be sold as a limited edition 2018 festival label, detailing the specific cask and individual bottle number along with the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival logo & event dates.  This release is expected to be highly sought after, given the limited allocation of only 320 bottles yielded from a single cask.

The #dram18 Spirit of Speyside Festival bottling is of a rare, sweet, port cask finish and is a particularly warming SPEY whisky expression from Speyside Distillery at 59.1% ABV. It is a very smooth, easy to drink dram with a light aroma and taste.

Speyside Distillers Co Ltd Managing Director Patricia Dillon is delighted with the festival collaboration. She says, “What better way to celebrate our support of the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival 2018 than with a unique single malt, cask strength expression?

We became involved with the festival for the first time in 2015 when our Global Brand Ambassador Michael Owen surprised visitors by calling in on one of the distillery tours.

Following on from the success of our first two limited edition Festival bottling in 2016 and 2017, we worked with the organisers to produce a new SPEY for 2018. It strengthens our links with this fabulous event which brings thousands of visitors to Speyside in celebration of the area’s most famous export – whisky.

As well as releasing this limited edition SPEY malt, we also look forward to meeting with whisky lovers from all over the world and welcoming them to the events at our boutique distillery, which is not normally open to the public and has come to be known as one of Scotland’s ‘Hidden Gems’”

James Campbell, Chairman of the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, expects the whisky to go down very well with this year’s visitors and whisky collectors.

Mr Campbell adds, “When Speyside Distillery came to us with the idea of a port finish, limited release of a festival bottling, we knew right away that this would be of great interest and appeal to visitors.

“Naturally, there are many whiskies to take home from Speyside, but a festival bottling makes a very special collectable souvenir of the event and with its limited availability and special labelling, it is likely to be in high demand and sought after.”

The expression is cask strength (59.1ABV) with bottle numbers 1-320 and will be priced at £98 (plus postage and packing).  It is initially available to pre-order from karenann@speysidedistillers.co.uk for direct dispatch or can be collected from Speyside Distillery during the festival itself.

The Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival takes place from May 3rd –May 8th with a programme that features whisky steam train journeys, community related activity & outdoor events, along with music & performance and arts & crafts shows. There is also great scope to meet whisky distillers, writers and other celebrities in attendance.

As part of the programme, Speyside Distillery is offering a rare chance for the public to tour our small, picturesque, award winning artisan distillery near Kingussie, the quaint home of the SPEY brand of single malt whisky. Visitors can enjoy specially selected tastings, in the knowledgeable company of

Distillery Manager Sandy Jamieson and the distillery is also offering unique behind the scenes ‘hands-on’ whisky production experiences along with specific tastings of Managers’ Limited Edition expressions.

Whisky and light bites paired with SPEY whisky will also be shared on the Strathspey Steam Railway whilst allowing guests the opportunity to enjoy the stunning Cairngorm surroundings and an evening of

SPEY whisky tastings served with a haggis supper and Ceilidh is being held at the Duke of Gordon Hotel in Kingussie. We are also delighted to be shortlisted as Best New Event of the festival for our Golf and whisky tasting event at Boat of Garte.

New for 2018 will also be an afternoon tasting & serving of Speyside Distillers’ Lord Byron’s Gin –a welcome new addition to our growing portfolio of brands.
